Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers and Jaire Alexander have been trying to figure out a resolution for the future. Rumors have been running rampant, but no one has known whether or not he'd be back in town for the upcoming season.
While the Packers were trying to work out some kind of a pay cut to keep Alexander, the two sides have been unable to agree on anything.
Now, a final decision has been made. Fans officially know what Alexander's future with the team will be.
According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Green Bay will release Alexander on Monday.
This is a disappointing outcome for many fans. Alexander has been a fan favorite for the Packers since he was drafted with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was also one of the NFL's most talented cornerbacks.

He will now be free to search for a new opportunity. There will be no shortage of teams with interest in signing him for the 2025 campaign.
With his career in Green Bay coming to an end, Alexander will have played in 78 career games with the team. He racked up 287 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 70 defended passes.
Plenty of questions will begin circulating about the Packers. Will they make another move to shore up the cornerback position with Alexander gone?
Last season, the defensive secondary was a major issue. Nate Hobbs was signed in free agency, but another cornerback could be needed for the defense to live up to its full potential.

There are still a few options to keep an eye on in NFL free agency. Stephon Gilmore, Rasul Douglas, and Asante Samuel Jr. are three of the bigger names on the market. This news would be much easier to swallow for Green Bay fans if one of those players is signed by the team.
It's a sad day for the Packers. Alexander has meant a lot to the team and his skill and talent have been on full display. Unfortunately, his health only allowed him to play in seven games in each of the last two years.
Fans will now have to wait and see which team signs Alexander to give him a fresh start in 2025.
