Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez has shared a wordless message after pulling out of Hungary's international friendly with Azerbaijan. Liverpool have been in talks with his current club attempting to secure their next summer signing.

Throughout the 2024/25 campaign Liverpool's left-back position was one looked at as an area for possible improvement. That has escalated with the opening of the summer transfer window as now efforts have been ramped up to recruit Kerkez from the Cherries after he himself had an impressive season.

With it said his club are seeking £45m in return, the 21-year-old reported for June internationals with Hungary against Sweden and Azerbaijan, though missed the former and has since left the squad before the latter with a 'private matter' cited. There was no mention of a transfer, but it has still caused a stir.

Hungary announced his surprise exit from the camp in a statement which confirmed: "Milos Kerkez left the men's A-team training camp in Telk for private reasons, so he will not travel with the team to Baku, the venue of the match against Azerbaijan."

Kerkez did not speak throughout these events but has now taken to his own Instagram page with a story for his followers.

He included no caption on the photo posted - an expressionless selfie looking directly into the camera lens sitting inside his car.

It remains to be seen if Kerkez makes the move to Liverpool. For that to happen the Reds would have to rely on the negotiating power of sporting director Richard Hughes, liaising with his former club Bournemouth.

It was Hughes who brought the Hungarian to the Vitality Stadium in 2023 from AZ Alkmaar, so the relationship is already well established between all parties involved.

The matter of when comes down to how quickly an agreement can be reached. The transfer window will close at 7pm on Tuesday, June 10, then reopen again on Monday, June 16 - after the FIFA Club World Cup starts - for the rest of the summer.

It is also on Hughes' agenda to recruit Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, with talks continuing after the rejection of a latest bid worth £113m. It is believed a compromise of £118m can be reached.

Meanwhile Liverpool have already sealed the arrivals of right-back Jeremie Frimpong from the same Bundesliga club and 20-year-old goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia.
