Florian Wirtz's transfer to Liverpool has taken another step forward
Florian 's move to has moved a step closer with Liverpool expected to table its final offer for the star.
Reports over the weekend indicated for the German international, after a third bid was knocked back. It is claimed could finally be agreed between the clubs in the coming days .
Fresh reports in on Monday state that Leverkusen is “waiting for the final written offer” from Liverpool, with the clubs coming “significantly closer” to a transfer fee over the weekend. The news emerged just hours after .
The outlet adds Liverpool plans to offer about €140M ($160M/£118M) “in a package consisting of a fixed transfer fee and realistic additional payments”. A contract running until 2023 has been agreed, and then Wirtz will head off on vacation.
Bild claims that Wirtz will make his debut in Liverpool's friendly at Preston North End on July 13.
It comes as the 22-year-old’s 2024/25 campaign finally draws to a close. Wirtz played 180 minutes across Germany’s double header in the Nations League last week, but ended on the losing side twice.
A 2-1 defeat to Portugal, a game in which Wirtz scored, was followed by a 2-0 loss to France in the third-place play-off.
Including international games, Wirtz played 53 games in a campaign that saw him voted as the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season for a second year in a row.
His move to Liverpool will need to be completed before Tuesday’s deadline if it is to be ratified during the first window. Although, given the market reopens again on Monday, there will be little concern if the transfer is not concluded in time.
Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival was announced before the window opened, and was made official on June 1.
Wirtz’s arrival is seen as a landmark signing for the Reds, not least because they beat competition from Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to agree a transfer. But a British record fee for a player seen as one of the brightest young attacking talents on the planet is a real statement of intent.
He could be followed by Milos Kerkez, with Liverpool reportedly working on a deal for the Bournemouth left-back.
