An out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at Barcelona is expected to put pen to paper on terms with La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid at any moment.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Clément Lenglet as the player in question.

Stopper Lenglet of course spent this past season out on loan away from Barcelona, with the aforementioned Atlético.

And after a shaky start to life with Diego Simeone’s side, the Frenchman over the course of the campaign developed into an important player in Spain’s capital.

Such form culminated in the board at the Metropolitano making clear their hope of retaining Lenglet’s services for next season, albeit only in the case of his contract with Barcelona being terminated.

And as alluded to above, on Monday, as much is mere details away from coming to fruition.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Clément Lenglet will leave Barcelona in the coming hours. The player has reached an agreement in principle with the club to terminate his contract. This way, the player will be able to sign a contract with Atlético Madrid.’

An insight into the personnel at the disposal of new Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso in his first training session at the club has on Monday been provided.

This comes after the Spanish tactician officially kicked his new adventure on the Blancos bench into gear early this morning.

Alonso, of course, was the man chosen by those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu to usher in a new era next season, following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti.

The 43-year-old is fresh off a stellar stint in the dugout at German outfit Bayer Leverkusen, with expectations high when it comes to his prospects with Real, too.

And on Monday, a number of the players set to be under his command in 2025/26 got a first glimpse at life under Alonso.

This comes amid confirmation of the exact group of players who took part in training at Valdebebas…

As per a report from Blancos insider Arancha Rodríguez, the following five first-team stars took full part in training:

Lucas Vázquez, Fran García, Dani Ceballos, Rodrygo and Raúl Asencio.

Completing part of the session amid ongoing injury recovery efforts, meanwhile, were:

Dani Carvajal, Brahim Díaz, Éder Militão, David Alaba, Thibaut Courtois and Federico Valverde.
