Manchester United’s summer overhaul has taken a sharp turn after sealing a deal for Matheus Cunha and pushing ahead for Bryan Mbeumo.

With the transfer window closing temporarily, clubs across Europe are making their final moves before the pause.

United remain firm in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements, with Ineos prioritising players who can offer versatility and a proven record in top-level competitions.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan have been busy, and now hunting for another forward to provide depth behind Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

The Italian giants, aware of Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa’s uncertain futures and Mehdi Taremi’s status, made a surprise approach to Manchester United for one of their own.

Inter reignited interest in Joshua Zirkzee, who joined United from Bologna earlier this summer after a drawn-out transfer battle involving AC Milan and Arsenal.

Despite not yet making his debut at Old Trafford, the Dutch striker has impressed behind the scenes in training and is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming campaign under Ruben Amorim.

Inter’s proposal involved an initial loan with an option or obligation to buy based on certain performance conditions, hoping to bypass a permanent fee upfront.

But United swiftly turned the offer down, making it clear they have no intention of letting Zirkzee leave, even temporarily, as per Corriere dello Sport.

The 23-year-old remains a long-term investment for Ineos and a key part of Amorim’s tactical plans going forward.

With Rasmus Hojlund still adjusting to Premier League expectations, Joshua Zirkzee is being lined up as both competition and support for the Danish forward, giving United depth that was painfully lacking last season.

Inter will now shift their focus back to Hojlund, who is reportedly open to returning to Serie A.

United have also rejected a loan move for him, but discussions over a permanent sale at around £45 million remain ongoing.

In the meantime, Zirkzee stays put — and United aren’t budging.
