Why the Browns won’t face this Packers’ All-Pro CB in Week 3 this season

CLEVELAND, Ohio — When the Packers visit the Browns in Week 3, they won’t be bringing along All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander.

The reason for this is due to Green Bay reportedly releasing Alexander after an offseason of uncertainty according to NFL Network.

Between turning down the team’s proposed restructured contract that would’ve paid him less than the $16.15 million base salary and not being at OTAs, Alexander’s time in Green Bay was visibly dwindling.

The 28-year-old has been one of the league’s best cornerbacks, having garnered two second team All-Pro selections and two Pro Bowl nods.

But multiple injuries have limited his production of late, having only played a combined 14 games in the last two seasons.

The most recent injury was to his posterior cruciate ligament, suffered during Week 8 of the 2024 season. It eventually sidelined him the rest of the season and required surgery.

As for now, Alexander will be an unrestricted free agent.

And as for Cleveland, they currently only have to gameplan for either of the Packers’ backup left cornerbacks in Carrington Valentine and Kamal Hadden.

The Browns vs. Packers game is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 21 at Huntington Bank Field.
