Chelsea still in negotiation with€100 million costing French star

Chelsea are interested to sign French star this summer. The player has been made available for €100 million in the market. But, the Blues are still keen to sign him and are in negotiations currently.

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap as their new striker. The 22 year old costed the club only £30 million. He will be now travelling with the Blues for the Club World Cup. But, the Blues are keen to add another striker. They are showing strong interest in young French striker.

The star in question here is Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt. He is 22 years old and has played for France youth teams. He scored 22 goals and picked 12 assists in recent season for Bundesliga outfit. This has attracted interest from multiple clubs.

Chelsea are amongst the clubs keen to sign Ekitike. But, he will not come cheap at all. Frankfurt are in no hurry to sell the 22 year old. They have made it clear that Ekitike will cost €100 million. But, the Blues are still keen to sign him.

Chelsea still in talks to sign Hugo Ekitike

According to Fabrice Hawkins, the Blues are still in negotiations with Ekitike’s camp. He added that a meeting took place between both parties in recent days. Lastly, he said that the contact has not broken off but the deal has not progressed.

Ekitike is very young and has shown his ability in final third. Along with striker, he can also play as wide forward. He will add the much needed dynamism in the Chelsea squad. But, €100 million still seems too much for him as he still has a lot to prove.

If Chelsea do sign Ekitike, it will be interesting to see who takes the number nine spot. Enzo Maresca will need to make decision between Jackson, Delap and Ekitike. Marc Guiu is likely to be sent on loan for further improvement.
