[Leeds United](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/) have reportedly made a £21.9million offer to Strasbourg for midfielder Habib Diarra.
Daniel Farke's side are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after winning promotion back to the Premier League, and midfield is an area the Whites want to target.
Josuha Guilavogui is set to leave Leeds at the end of his contract, while Joe Rothwell is anticipated to return to Bournemouth, leaving room for Farke to bolster his midfield. And, according to [L'Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Promu-en-premier-league-leeds-offre-26-millions-d-euros-pour-le-milieu-de-strasbourg-habib-diarra/1568861), Leeds are targeting a move for Strasbourg's Diarra after he enjoyed an impressive season in Ligue 1, scoring four times and providing five assists in 33 matches.
Diarra's profile, performances and potential have caught the eye, and Leeds have decided to advance in a deal for the Senegal international, having made an opening bid in the region of £21.9m.
Leeds' proposal has been placed in the 'last few hours' and Strasbourg haven't responded, with the French club said to be waiting to see if they'll be more movement in the coming days.
It's added that clubs from England and Germany are in constant contact to secure Diarra's services. Everton, Aston Villa and Brighton were linked with a move for the 20-year-old in May.
But Leeds are determined to move to the front of the queue and beat their Premier League rivals to bring Diarra to Elland Road and make him their first significant piece of summer business.
Diarra's contract is set to run until 2028, and he won't come cheap, with Chelsea's owners, BlueCo, who are also in charge at Strasbourg, hoping to drive the price up and increase the interest.
Elsewhere, Leeds are in the market for a new striker. Everton frontman Beto had been reported to be on their shortlist last month, while Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz has emerged as another candidate.
Muniz has one year left on his contract at Craven Cottage, though that does include an option for a further 12 months. He could be an astute addition if Leeds were to lure him to West Yorkshire.
Another position, meanwhile, that has been identified is the goalkeeper area. Illan Meslier lost his No.1 spot to Karl Darlow near the end of the season, and Farke is keen to bring in a new first-choice.
Speaking to the BBC on Leeds' summer recruitment plans, Farke said last month: "We must get the structures, processes and decisions right. I'm optimistic…
"I want to make sure we become an established Premier League side. We need a top-class summer."
