Wanya Marcal’s De Graafschap Loan Journey: Highlights and Future at Leicester

Wanya Marcal-Madivadua was one of many Leicester players to spend most of last season on loan at another club. He had his spell with Dutch club De Graafschap.

In the season before he had a promising period in the early counters of that Championship winning journey. He was included early on, making an impression in pre-season games, surprisingly named in starting elevens. He steadily progressed and had a part to play in the early stages of that 2023-24 campaign.

Wanya Marcal scored his first and only goal for Leicester in a Championship game vs. Cardiff. This was on the 19th of August 2023. The game ended in a 2-1 home win to Leicester. Aaron Ramsey leveling the Leicester lead with a screamer, for Cesare Casadei to secure the winner.

He was more or less pushed out of the line up from then. His tally of appearances was only 3 in league action. Still, his impressive display made an exciting look.

Last season a loan move to Dutch second tier happened. Wanya Marcal joined De Graafschap. The club is located in the town Doetinchem. A place in the eastern parts of Holland.
