Leeds United have one eye on Everton striker Beto this summer, with Daniel Farke keen to sign a new centre-forward to spearhead the attack.

Leeds United simply have to bring competition and quality for the likes of Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe, with Beto of Everton linked to Leeds.

Beto wants to stay and fight for his place at Everton and Everton supporters are desperate to retain the striker with a big summer of squad churn ahead.

Many Leeds fans do not want Beto, and they could get their wish with further developments on the Everton striker as well as an alternative option in the Championship from Norwich City.

Josh Sargent emerges as a Leeds United alternative to Beto

Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Sports Switzerland has the latest regarding Leeds’ pursuit of Beto. He states that they have “set their sights” on the Everton striker.

It is said that the Toffees would not rule out a move for a reported fee of around €25 million (£21 million) as well. However, Leeds are keeping tabs on another striker in English football.

Tavolieri states Leeds have also been in contact with Norwich City management to explore the possibility of a summer deal for Josh Sargent.

They are in discussions with the player’s entourage and the American has already made it known that he is interested in joining the Premier League.

Beto is said to be more expensive than Sargent. The USMNT attacker could cost up to €20 million (£16.8 million).

The report states it remains to be seen which of the two strikers — whom Leeds consider priorities — will be the lucky one.

However Tavolieri adds that acquiring a number nine is a priority and that the club “will soon be positioning themselves in the market” and that “concrete offers are coming soon!”

As per EFL Analysis, both Everton and Newcastle United have kept tabs on the Norwich attacker, with Leeds having a long-standing interest in Sargent.

Josh Sargent’s Championship record is sensational

Leeds United News exclusively revealed that Sargent could be of interest to Leeds again this summer, but the latest report indicates that the interest could be firmed up.

Norwich icon Chris Sutton said he would be stunned if Leeds signed Sargent while Josh Windass believes Sargent is better than Joel Piroe.

Of course, the 25-year-old has developed into a far more refined and well-rounded player in the Premier League since relegation with Norwich in 2022.

His goal and assist return proves as much, with Sargent perhaps the best striker in English football outside of the Premier League.
