Arsenal have already confirmed that a handful of players will depart the club this summer, but no arrivals have been announced thus far.
Nuno Tavares has joined Lazio in a deal worth around £4.2million while Jorginho has joined Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer. Kieran Tierney will also wave goodbye to north London in the coming weeks and is expected to re-join Celtic when his contract expires on June 30.
Thomas Partey may well also leave the club with his contract expiring at the end of the month, but Mikel Arteta wants the midfielder to stay for at least one more year. The Ghana international's representatives are currently in contact with the Gunners over an extension and it's possible we get an update on the situation this week.
Whether Partey stays or not, Arsenal want to sign Martin Zubimendi. The midfielder, who scored for Spain in the Nations League final against Portugal on Sunday, has verbally agreed a deal to sign for the Gunners, with only a medical left to complete.
The Real Sociedad star has a €60million (£51million) release clause in his contract and it's thought any move will likely be announced in July for accounting reasons. football.london understands Real Madrid are attempting to hijack the move, however, with the Spanish giants pushing hard to try and convince Zubimendi to join them instead.
Arsenal have been confident for a long period of time that they will get the deal done, though, and Zubimendi's proposed transfer to the Gunners remains at an advanced stage. With the midfielder's international commitments now finished, the 26-year-old may turn his attention back to club football and it's possible a deal is announced in the coming days.
One player who Arteta will likely have in his squad next season is Kepa Arrizabalaga, after the Spaniard agreed to make the switch from Chelsea. It's understood the goalkeeper will move to Emirates Stadium for £5million and will be the club's No.2, behind David Raya.
The fourth and perhaps the most vital deal Arsenal could look to complete this week is the one for Benjamin Sesko. Arteta wants more firepower up front for the 2025/26 campaign and Sesko has been identified as the main target. Viktor Gyokeres has also been linked with a move but it's believed Arsenal are now making advancements in their move for Sesko. The Slovenian scored 21 goals in 45 appearances for RB Leipzig last season and at the age of 22 has room to grow and improve even further.
It's worth noting that the first mini summer transfer window, which opened because of the Club World Cup, closes on Tuesday at 7pm. The window will reopen on Monday, June 16 and will remain open until 7pm on Monday, September 1.
With Arsenal not playing in the Club World Cup, it's expected deals will be completed in the second of the two summer windows. The club want to press on with business, though, so it's possible they look to agree transfers and contract extensions in the coming days, with Partey, Zubimendi, Kepa and Sesko all on the agenda.
