Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder was once again looking like the league’s MVP on Sunday night.
Gilgeous-Alexander had a terrific Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers, evening the series and making his home crowd very happy.
Following OKC’s 123-107 win over the Pacers, Gilgeous-Alexander talked to ESPN about where his head was at and what he was trying to do.
“I’m being myself,” said Gilgeous-Alexander after Game 2. “I don’t think I tried to reinvent the wheel or step up to the plate with a different mindset. Just try to attack the game the right way. I think I’ve done a pretty good job of that so far.”
The MVP posted 34 points, five rebounds, and eight assists, shooting 11-of-21 from the field and 11-of-12 from the foul line.
He was repeatedly able to get past everything the Pacers threw at him.
Gilgeous-Alexander is definitely being himself, and that is a historic and incredible accomplishment.
His 72 points in this series so far are the most by a player in his first two Finals games.
He is clearly very comfortable playing on a big stage with such stakes.
After a wild Game 1, the Thunder were completely in control on Sunday.
This was wire-to-wire dominance, and once they opened a decent lead, they never looked back.
The Pacers attempted to climb back into the game, but the Thunder always had an answer, and it was usually Gilgeous-Alexander.
Gilgeous-Alexander has already been the league’s point leader in 2024-25 and was named MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP.
If he continues to play like this, his team has a great shot of winning the title, and he could be named Finals MVP as well.
