Hawks make two pivotal front office hires

According to ESPN’s Shams Charani, the Hawks have made a couple of additions to their front office. New Orleans Pelicans GM Bryson Graham has been hired as the Senior VP of Basketball Operations, and Peter Dinwiddie of the Philadelphia 76ers is joining the club as the Senior VP of Strategy and Analytics.

The Atlanta Hawks reportedly took some big swings in their search for a President of Basketball Operations to pair with new general manager Onsi Saleh. Bob Myers and Masai Ujiri were two of the most notable names they attempted to lure down south; however, both were long shots, and with these moves, it appears the Hawks are fine just handing the reins to Saleh as the team’s primary shot-caller.

Bryson Graham has spent the last 15 seasons with the Pelicans organization, rising through the ranks as he began his career as an intern in New Orleans and was promoted all the way up to general manager. The Pelicans didn’t have a lot of success on the court this past season; however, a lot of that can be attributed to injuries. There are a lot of talented players in New Orleans — like Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, Yves Missi, Dejounte Murray, Herb Jones, and Jose Alvarado — many of whom Graham had a hand in acquiring.

Dinwiddie has been with the Philadelphia 76ers since 2020 after serving in the Pacers front office for 14 years. As Charania notes, he’s well regarded in NBA circles.

“Dinwiddie, known as a well-respected executive throughout the NBA, has worked in the 76ers’ front office since 2020 after 14 seasons with the Indiana Pacers and has played a key part of dozens of trades, signings and transactions,” Charania writes.
