Outgoing centre-back Jack Kingdon has thanked everyone associated with Manchester United after it was announced he will be leaving the club when his contract expires.

United issued their end-of-season retained list on Monday afternoon, confirming nine players will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.

Kingdon is one of six academy players to have been informed he will be leaving Old Trafford, meaning he will be attempting to write the next chapter of his career elsewhere. He spent five years at United after joining the club as a 15-year-old from Morecambe.

The centre-back, who will turn 20 in November, was a regular fixture for the club's Under-18s and Under-21s during his time at Old Trafford.

Issuing a farewell message on his Instagram page, he said: "After nearly five years at this club, it is my time to move onto the next chapter in my career.

"The experiences this club has given me I will always be grateful for. The lads, staff and fans have been outstanding with me whilst I've been here. Manchester United will always have a place in my heart, but it is time for the next chapter.

"Thank you, Reds."

Kingdon, who played a key role in United's Under-18s winning an impressive treble in 2023/24, earned the opportunity to sample his first taste of senior football in the second half of this season after joining non-league side Rochdale on loan in January.

He made 16 appearances during his temporary stint at the Crown Oil Arena as Rochdale missed out on promotion in the National League's end-of-season play-offs.

Prior to joining Rochdale, it is understood he was close to joining Ineos-owned FC Lausanne Sport. He spent time with the Swiss outfit last year after being invited to train with their first-team squad.
