Texans Worked Out Former Raiders CB On Monday

The Houston Texans are looking to add more firepower to their defense.

They have a superstar cornerback in Derek Stingley Jr., but they don’t have much depth behind him and Kamari Lassiter now that Ronald Darby announced his retirement.

According to a report by Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team just worked out Damon Arnette Jr., who last played in the NFL for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Arnette has a long and well-documented history of run-ins with the law, but he’s urged teams to give him another chance to prove that he’s not that guy anymore.

He excelled with the Houston Roughnecks of the UFL.

The Texans are looking to take another leap after two postseason trips in as many seasons with DeMeco Ryans at head coach and C.J. Stroud at quarterback.

Of course, working him out doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s going to make the roster, but personal issues aside, he’s a talented player who’s still young enough to get another shot in the league.

He might not demand a steep salary, and, knowing that this will most likely be his final chance to get to and stay in the NFL, he should be on his best behavior if the Texans or any other team give him an opportunity.

The Texans also worked out San Antonio Brahmas long-snapper Cameron Lyons, so it seems like they’re keeping their options open and an eye on other pro football leagues.

Lyons has experience with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants as well.
