Newcastle United are looking to sign a new striker this summer and a familiar name has been strongly linked with a move to the club.
Despite the fact Newcastle United boast one of Europe’s leading marksmen in the form of Alexander Isak, the club are in hot pursuit of another forward.
Indeed, Newcastle want to sign a new striker, presumably to cover and compete with Isak in equal measure.
Still, finding that player hasn’t been easy. Liam Delap rejected Newcastle for Chelsea, which was an early blow in this summer’s transfer market.
Still, it seems there could be a development on long-term Newcastle target Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Geordie Boot Boys understands Newcastle are interested in Calvert-Lewin, who will see his current Everton contract expire at the end of June.
Newcastle almost signed Calvert-Lewin in 2024, while the 11-cap England international has been touted as a Toon target even before that.
The Times have claimed the forward is set to leave Everton after talks over a new contract stalled.

The expectation is that he’ll begin the search for a new club.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stats for Everton
All of that is despite the fact that Everton confirmed in an official statement that they were holding talks to extend the striker’s stay on Merseyside.
A statement posted on Everton’s official website said: “We continue to liaise with representatives of Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the current deals of all four players expiring at the end of June.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s salary demands to join Newcastle United
As a free agent, the 28-year-old is in a strong bargaining position.
Should he leave Everton, interested clubs obviously wouldn’t need to pay a transfer fee. In that event, he could theoretically demand much more in the way of wages and signing-on fee.

Calvert-Lewin wants around £100k-per-week at his next club, which would make him one of Newcastle’s highest-paid players.
While Newcastle are in a position to increase their wage bill, paying that kind of money for what would effectively be a back-up striker would be a gamble.
That’s more than some of their existing key players are paid right now.
