Commanders Making Same Major Mistake As Other Josh Harris-Owned Teams

If there is one constant from Josh Harris-owned sports teams, it's that the organizations always seem to find a way to turn their misfortunes around quickly.

The problem he has after that ... is building a team to sustain that success.

The Washington Commanders may be the latest example of that... if the organization isn't careful.

After reaching the conference title game for the first time in three decades, the club has tried very hard to improve the roster off that successful season.

In some ways, they have done so. Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil were acquired to be the finishing touches on an elite offense led by star quarterback Jayden Daniels.

In other ways, though, the team seems to be dropping the ball.

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin is an All-Pro caliber wideout and the top target for Daniels. He is entering the final year of his contract and is 30 years old. As the team continues their offseason workout period, McLaurin has been away from the club in hopes of getting an extension that he has more than earned over the years.

Washington, as far as we kniow, has yet to offer a fair contract.

And it's a reminder of another ugly truth for Harris-owned teams.

Once these organizations get a top talent, they look to add players around them, but they often seem to keep the wrong players for that star.

The Harris-owned Philadelphia 76ers had an MVP candidate in Joel Embiid and chose to re-sign Tobias Harris over All-NBA star Jimmy Butler. That one mistake hurt Philadelphia's title chances for years on end.

In New Jersey, the Devils have struggled to built a true Stanley Cup title contender behind Jack Hughes.

Every team Harris seems to own in North America has a star on their roster. With how the Commanders seem to be treating McLaurin, though, it appears each team continues to make the same mistakes about building around said stars.
