The Pittsburgh Steelers finally have their quarterback for the 2025 NFL season.
For the third year in a row, Aaron Rodgers had to take plenty of time off to figure out whether he wanted to keep playing.
And at 41 years old, he’s not going to be out there for much longer, not even if he wants to.
Notably, that’s why Chase Daniel didn’t like this move for Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin.
Talking on FS1’s “The Facility,” the former backup quarterback claimed that the Steelers will be back to square one next year because Rodgers isn’t going to be there:
“Rodgers is a 1 year rental. The only way they would’ve gotten this right is by singing Stafford because you have a franchise QB for the next 2-3 years,” Daniel said.

The Steelers backed themselves into a corner when they allowed both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to walk away in free agency.
They placed all their eggs in the same basket by hoping that Rodgers would eventually sign with them.
While they also took Ohio State star quarterback Will Howard in the NFL Draft, he’s always been projected to be a backup at the next level.
Perhaps a year sitting behind one of the greatest passers of all time will be enough for Howard to take a leap and hold onto the starting job, but that’s just wishful thinking at this point.
The 2026 NFL Draft class will reportedly be stacked with talented quarterbacks, and even if Rodgers chooses to run it back and return for a second season, they will likely roll the dice with one of them.
