Ruben Amorim must not hesitate with his major call over one Man Utd attacker who is'fully dedicated'to his'project'– opinion

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim must be ready to make the ruthless decision over one first-team Red Devils star under his reign at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim now faces a mammoth task ahead of him at the Premier League club after Manchester United’s disappointing 2024-25 season at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils finished in 15th place in the Premier League table and United were unable to turn their league form around after Amorim’s arrival from Sporting CP.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October after the Red Devils’ woeful start to the league campaign and Amorim was left to pick up the fractured pieces.

Amorim came within touching distance of his first piece of major silverware as Red Devils boss, but United fell short to Tottenham in the Europa League final in May.

United’s 1-0 defeat to Spurs in the 2025 Europa League final ensured that the Red Devils would miss out on Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign.

Rasmus Hojlund’s telling message to Man Utd fans is a real eye-opener for Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s poor Premier League standing in the previous campaign means that the Red Devils will be without any kind of European football for next season.

Ruben Amorim is currently overhauling his United first-team that he inherited from ex-Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag after the summer transfer window opened in June.

Rasmus Hojlund was part of United’s post-season tour of Asia in May before he linked up with his Denmark teammates for international duty this month.

The 22-year-old United striker represented Denmark in his country’s 2-1 win over Northern Ireland at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Saturday.

Rasmus Hojlund played 66 minutes for Denmark before he was pulled off for Monaco forward Mika Biereth after the United star failed to make a real impact.

The Danish forward struggled with his goalscoring form at Old Trafford last season, but Hojlund has insisted that he intends to remain at the Red Devils this summer.

“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United,” he told TV 2 Sport, as per Goal.

“I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.

“I know I can’t get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030.

“I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.”

Ruben Amorim must make a crucial call on Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund after his next (and final) Man Utd ‘audition’

Rasmus Hojlund has been linked with Inter Milan in recent weeks amid the uncertainty around his future at Old Trafford under United manager Amorim.

The Denmark and United striker only netted 10 times in 52 appearances across all competitions in his second full season at the Premier League club.

Hojlund is under contract with United until 2028, with an option to extend, but the Red Devils forward could be running out of time to save his career at the club.

The former Atalanta man’s form last season left the Red Devils without a regular goalscorer in the frontline and Amorim cannot have a repeat next season.

The Red Devils could make a move for a striker this summer and United have been heavily linked with Viktor Gyokeres, who played under Amorim at the Red Devils.

Hojlund could still have the chance to prove himself at Old Trafford and Amorim could use United’s pre-season as a ‘final audition’ for the player’s future under him.

If Hojlund does fail to impress in the pre-season this summer, then Amorim cannot think twice about either selling the Danish forward or sending him out on loan.
