Armin Pecsi may have dropped a subtle hint over his move to Liverpool nearly 18 months before he completed his transfer to Merseyside.
The talented Hungary U21 goalkeeper became the Reds’ second signing of the summer last week, following Jeremie Frimpong as he signed for the Premier League champions from Puskas Akademia.
The 20-year-old is expected to initially play for Liverpool’s U21s side, while also gaining some valuable experience training alongside Alisson Becker and fellow new arrival Giorgi Mamardashvili. Liverpool of course looks set to add further to its ranks this summer, with deals for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez looking like they’re well on the way.
Pecsi looks to be long-term option for Liverpool following Caoimhin Kelleher’s departure for Brentford, with the youngster having outlined what role he will play on Merseyside going forward.
And he may well have had an idea of what was to come long before his move to Merseyside was confirmed, having dropped a subtle hint on Instagram back in December 2023.
Pecsi posted a picture from inside Anfield, seemingly during a visit to the iconic ground for the Reds’ clash at home to Arsenal in the 2023-24 campaign. He captioned the image with just a single thought cloud emoji, hinting that he may have already been thinking about a move to Liverpool at the time.
Eighteen months on, and what might have been a dream has now turned into a reality, with Pecsi now aiming to move into the first-team ranks with the Reds in the future.
"It was obviously a very good feeling when I first heard about the possible interest, or that they were watching me," Pecsi told the Hungarian national team's YouTube channel.
"And then as things developed and it became clear that it could be something more serious.
"I was rather shocked, and it occurred to me that it was what I had been working for in recent years, to possibly have such opportunities in my life. I was of the opinion that this should definitely be tried, so I hope that only good things will come out of it."

Pecsi added: "They see a long-term project that they outlined for me. It’s hard to say this is one sentence because so many matches are analyzed in so many different ways.
"They have data on almost everything that was outlined during the meeting. It was quite astonishing how much attention they paid to every detail.
"Of course, it gives me great motivation that such a club, such data analysts, decided on my name, that they want to build me. So, that’s definitely my goal, and I want to show them that they chose the right person for the job.”
