Arsenal have confirmed that Marquinhos has joined Cruzeiro on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old winger initially joined the Brazilian side on loan in January and has since made 17 appearances, registering one goal and one assist – apparently enough to earn him a three-year contract.
Signed from Sao Paulo in 2022 for around £3 million, Marquinhos was something of a punt by Edu. He made six appearances for the Gunners in his debut season before going out on loan to Norwich, Nantes, and Fluminense, none of which yielded much in the way of standout performances.
The Evening Standard has previously reported that Arsenal will earn £2.5 million from the sale, and a sell-on clause has been included. Not too shabby.
Hopefully, the player finds some stability back in Brazil. Best of luck to him.
