Manchester United and West Ham will both be looking to perform better in the Premier League next season
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will be under pressure from the off next season. The former Sporting Lisbon boss was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag last November. It has since been a mixed start in terms of results for him at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils finished in a disappointing 15th place in the table in this past campaign. They have the chance to add some much needed quality to their squad this summer. The North West outfit also have the opportunity to let some players leave and to clear out some of the deadwood.
There’s no denying that a move to Old Trafford in these troubled times is a risky move for any top quality player, but the club still boasts an impressive allure, with their previous years of dominance in the Premier League still making them an attractive prospect for footballer’s looking to follow in the footsteps of their past superstars.
Manchester United eye West Ham attacker Mohamed Kudus
United have been linked with a move for West Ham attacker Mohamed Kudus frequently since the start of the transfer window. As per CaughtOffside, they have now considered sending Jadon Sancho the other way as part of a deal. It remains to be seen at this stage whether they will lodge an official approach for his services.
Kudus, 24, could be seen by the Red Devils as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give Amorim more competition and depth going forward and something different to call upon in game. The Ghana international, who has 42 caps under his belt so far in his career, has been a key player for the Hammers since joining them in 2023.
He rose into the first-team at Nordsjælland as a teenager. His emergence in the Danish Superliga alerted the attention of Ajax and they swooped in for him back in 2020. He then spent three years in Amsterdam and scored 27 goals in 87 matches.
West Ham lured him over to England a couple of years ago and he has since found the net on 19 occasions in 80 outings, five of which came in the last campaign. The London club are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and can wait for big money to come in for him before they consider cashing in. Kudus would be an eye-catching addition for United if they were able to get him and he would significantly boost their forward area.
Manchester United should use Jadon Sancho as part of West Ham swap deal
Graham Potter’s move to West Ham hasn’t worked out for him so far. The ex-Swansea City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea man was appointed as their replacement for Julen Lopetegui. However, he has since struggled for results.
Potter will want to put his own stamp on things ahead of next term. Similarly to Amorim’s situation at United, he may feel the heat if they start slowly. Therefore, it is crucial that the Hammers get their recruitment spot on.
If Kudus was sold to the Red Devils, getting Sancho in return would be beneficial to West Ham. The winger is facing an uncertain future right now with his current team. He has recently spent time away on loan at Chelsea but won’t be joining the Blues permanently anytime soon.
Sancho needs to leave United for the sake of his career now and a full-time change of scene will do him good. The former Manchester City academy man left as a youngster to Germany when Borussia Dortmund came calling. He broke into their first-team in the Bundesliga and became an important asset.
United snapped him up in 2021 but he hasn’t been able to make the impact he would have wanted to. As well as Chelsea, he has also spent time back at Dortmund on a temporary basis. He must go somewhere next where he is guaranteed regular minutes and the Hammers could provide him with the perfect platform to show what he can do.
