Sources: Arsenal turn back on move for £300,000-a-week forward

Arsenal are not intending to offer Jack Grealish a route out of Manchester City despite sporting director Andrea Berta being determined to upgrade boss Mikel Arteta's current attacking options at the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

The Gunners have been close to landing Martin Zubimendi for a prolonged period, with the terms of a £51million switch from boyhood club Real Sociedad already agreed, but the north Londoners have still not got the deal over the line during the initial 10-day summer transfer window.

Berta, who was pinpointed as the outstanding candidate to replace Edu and spearhead Arsenal's recruitment drive following a lengthy process during the 2024/25 campaign, has turned his attentions towards bringing in fresh creativity and firepower in a bid to end the search for major silverware.

Arsenal have turned their back on a potential deal for Grealish despite leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of a new left-sided attacker, according to GMS sources, and he will have to look elsewhere for other possible destinations as he seeks a fresh challenge away from Manchester City.

Everton are among the sides monitoring the England international, having been put on red alert after he has struggled to make himself one of the first names on the team sheet at the Etihad Stadium, and the Gunners have ruled out challenging the Merseyside outfit for his signature.

GMS sources have been informed that Arsenal have not made contact over Grealish's availability even though he is set to be given the green light to seal a loan move from Manchester City after he was limited to just seven Premier League starts by chief Pep Guardiola during the 2024/25 campaign.

Jack Grealish's statistics for Manchester City this season

The winger, who is preparing to enter the final two years of a contract which allows him to pocket £300,000-per-week, is being given the opportunity to test himself in different surroundings after falling behind the likes of Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden and Savinho in the pecking order.

Arsenal are playing down the possibility of moving for Grealish even though they took a punt on an out-of-form Raheem Sterling when they landed him on a temporary basis from Chelsea in the final hours of last year's summer transfer window, GMS sources have learned, and there is little chance of him arriving in north London.

GMS sources have been told that Arsenal boss Arteta and sporting director Berta are prioritising other options instead of attempting to win the race for Grealish's services, leaving the door ajar for domestic counterparts Everton and other interested parties to pounce as preparations are made for next season.

Although the 29-year-old has been described as 'incredible' by Gunners icon Theo Walcott, the north Londoners are looking in an alternative direction as they aim to bolster a squad desperate to end their wait for silverware after finishing 10 points adrift of Premier League champions Liverpool.

Grealish's preference is to remain in his homeland instead of heading overseas in a bid to reignite his career, GMS sources understand, but Arsenal are not looking to open negotiations with Manchester City as they go in search of making themselves more of a goal threat in the 2025/26 campaign.

Arsenal are set to make a formal offer for the 29-year-old winger today.

GMS sources recently revealed that AC Milan have been contemplating whether to make a move for the former Aston Villa man after formulating contingency plans in case Rafael Leao departs, but they could face an uphill battle to convince him to complete a switch to Serie A during the remainder of the summer.
