Injury update on FC Barcelona’s Fridolina Rolfö

Fridolina Rolfö was forced off the pitch due to injury during Sweden’s UEFA Women’s Nations League match against Denmark. The injury occurred in the 19th minute following a challenge with Denmark’s Josefine Hasbo. After receiving treatment on the field, Rolfö was helped off with her foot bandaged. According to national team doctor Houman Ebrahimi, the situation appeared “hopeful.”

“Has not suffered a fracture”

There were initial fears that the Swedish international had sustained a fracture to her lower leg, but the doctor delivered a positive update:

“The initial examination after yesterday’s match confirms that Fridolina has not suffered a fracture. Fridolina is now heading home to her club team for further treatment, and this is being done in dialogue between Barcelona’s and the national team’s medical teams,” says Houman Ebrahimi.

FC Barcelona injury update report on Rolfö

FC Barcelona confirmed that Rolfö underwent a series of medical tests, which revealed damage to the anterior peroneotalar and peroneocalcaneal ligaments in her left ankle. No other injuries were detected.

Sweden is among the nations set to compete in UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland this summer. The club will remain in close contact with the Swedish national team to determine whether Rolfö will be fit to participate.

Final match of the season

Fridolina Rolfö also missed out on the Copa de la Reina final against Atlético Madrid due to the injury. Clàudia Pina led the way in the final, opening the scoring in the 24th minute and completing a brace in the second half to secure the victory. FC Barcelona claimed their third trophy of the season. They narrowly missed out on the UEFA Women’s Champions League, having been beaten by Arsenal.
