Former All Pro never recruited Aaron Rodgers (and now we know why)

There aren't any real guarantees in the NFL, but if there ever was anything close to one this offseason, it was that Aaron Rodgers would ultimately sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And, now we have even more proof that, after the initial booming of the offseason, Rodgers wasn't going to go to another team like the New Orleans Saints. Former All Pro and standout defensive end Cameron Jordan recently peeled back the curtain with Kay Adams on the most recent episode of her show.

"First thing I heard from it was, the Saints aren't an option. I was like, oh, guess I won't be texting my guy. I wish him well,"Jordan told Adams.

So, it was never going to be the Saints. And, for the Steelers, they did want Justin Fields or Matthew Stafford, but the way everything unfolded, Rodgers became the best option.

It seems as if it was the Pittsburgh Steelers all along for Aaron Rodgers

After Stafford stayed with the Los Angeles Rams and Rodgers was given a 'no' from the Minnesota Vikings, there was only one logical destination.

It was Pittsburgh.

Even though the Saints could have used Rodgers, especially after the Derek Carr retirement, New Orleans was fully committed to a youth movement under center. They were going to roll with a competition between rookie Tyler Shough and veterans Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener.

Meanwhile, Rodgers maintained that he was being honest and up front with the Steelers throughout this entire process. Some might have thought that he was holding the Steelers hostage, but after all was said and done, this seemed to be the plan.

It was only a matter of time.

There aren't any real guarantees in the NFL, but if there ever was anything close to one this offseason, it was that Aaron Rodgers would ultimately sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now, the big question is whether or not Rodgers' arrival is going to move the needle enough in terms of a franchise that has been good, but not good enough, for quite some time now.
