Report: Everton could now offload 'excellent' Everton player for £21m with PL club lurking

Everton’s striker department could be all change soon.

After a great end to the season for David Moyes, the Scot now faces the prospect of having a completely different pool of strikers for the 2025/26.

It was claimed earlier today that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to leave Everton after failing to reach an agreement with the club over a contract extension.

And Armando Broja is heading back to Chelsea after an unsuccessful loan spell.

It is also not out of the question that Chermiti could be heading out on loan for next season.

That just leaves Beto, who perhaps represents some of Moyes’ finest work at Everton since he returned to the club earlier this year.

Beto thrived under the Scot, but even he has been linked with a move away – and now there is word about how much Everton may sell him for.

Arguably though, he should have had a few more to his name, with the 27-year-old spurning quite a lot of good chances in games.

Some fans have suggested that, despite his upturn in form, Everton can still upgrade on him.

Beto was recently linked with Leeds United, who have just been promoted back to the Premier League. And Everton would be willing to sell for the right price.

And that price, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, writing for Sky Sports, is around £21 million.

It is stated Everton ‘would not close the door’ to a Beto sale if this much money was offered, but Leeds are also eyeing Josh Sargent from Norwich City.

It remains to be seen if Leeds will be prepared to go near that apparent asking price.

Everton should be asking for more than £21m for Beto

Yes, Beto missed a lot of chances and yes Everton do need more of a ‘killer’ up top than him if the team are to reach the next level.

But if it’s true Everton could sell Beto – who Troy Deeney branded ‘excellent’ earlier this year – for £21 million, then that is a tad surprising.

Everton signed him for £30 million, and the player still has two years left on his contract.

Beto for Everton (2023-present)

Appearances – 71

Goals – 15

Assists – 2

He has shown in 2025 that he can be a real handful and score goals, so £21 million feels a little on the cheap side.

We will see what transpires, but the most important thing for Everton is that Moyes gets a top striker in this summer.

Duncan Ferguson believes Everton could push for Europe with a top striker, and it’s difficult to argue against that.
