One Liverpool midfielder has undergone surgery ahead of the upcoming season.
Liverpool ended the 2024/25 season on a high as they secured the Premier League title with four games to go.
Despite a drop off in form and results towards the last weeks of the season, the Reds were the best team in the land for the entire season.
They lost just one of their first 30 league games, winning 22 times, and scoring 70 times, more than any team (except Manchester City) mustered throughout the entire season.
Having won the league in his first season, Arne Slot is already making plans for the upcoming season, with few players set to join the Dutchman’s revolution at Anfield.
Liverpool have signed Jeremie Frimpong and young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Hungarian side Puskas Akademia on a five-year-deal.
The likes of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez are still expected to join, while a striker is also likely to join.
While new players are expected, there is a new development about on of the club’s current stars.
Stefan Bajcetic returned to Liverpool after a five-month loan spell at Las Palmas. The Spanish midfielder was initially sent on loan to RB Salzburg, but was recalled in January after Pep Lijnders was sacked by the Austrian club.
He was sent to Las Palmas and enjoyed a productive loan spell. However, he picked up an injury shortly after half-time during the Spanish side’s defeat to Sevilla on May 15. It has now emerged that the midfielder has gone through a hamstring surgery ahead of the new season.
The news of his surgery was not announced by the club. However, it was made known by Dr Lasse Lempainen, who sent a goodluck message to the midfielder on Instagram.
Lempainen is a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery at Pihlajalinna Hospital in Turku and Helsinki. His main interest lies in Sports Orthopaedics, with special expertise in lower limb surgery, including injuries and issues related to, knee, hamstring, ankle, rectus femoris, quadriceps, adductor, groin, patella, and achilles tendon.
Stefan Bajcetic now faces a race against time to feature for Liverpool in pre-season after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.
