CJ Gardner-Johnson takes shot at Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with safety CJ Gardner-Johnson this offseason, and the veteran safety is taking it personally.

Gardner-Johnson, now with the Houston Texans, accused the Eagles of disrespecting him by trading him, and even questioned the claim that he was traded because of his contract.

“I feel highly disrespected, but it’s a business,” Gardner-Johnson told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. “Never was an All-Pro or Pro Bowl! Never! Led the league in interceptions. What more do you want?

“I got three more championships in me. I’m probably going to win the next three. I’m going to get me another Super Bowl this year. Just watch.”

The Eagles maintained they traded Gardner-Johnson for salary cap reasons, but he is not buying that either.

“It wasn’t about money,” Gardner-Johnson added. “If it was about money, everybody would have been gone.”

This is not exactly new for Gardner-Johnson, who loves the disrespect narrative. He is right that he was an integral part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl defense, as he had six interceptions, but the Eagles saw him as expendable when it came to keeping the likes of Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun.

The Eagles traded Gardner-Johnson in March and got a former first-round pick back in return. The safety will have no shortage of fuel as he keeps looking to prove people wrong.
