From comments in todays [Guardian,](https://www.claretandhugh.info/20-year-old-young-gun-tipped-by-top-hammers-journo-west-ham-news/) Jacob Steinberg, along with the rest of us, has bought into the narrative that West Ham need to sell in order to buy. And buy they must with seven first team players on their way out of the club.
Which means the funds from a sale of biggest sellable asset Mohammed Kudus are sorely needed as the recruitment team sit on their hands, penniless, whilst other clubs deal. However poor this situation looks for West Ham, the reality is that the cash strapped irons need cash to buy players.
So ‘good’ news- _if you accept that Kudus will have to be sold_ – appears on the horizon as another Premier League club is today reported to be focussing on the Ghanaian in the summer window.
Newcastle United were hoping to recruit a new right winger – Brian Mbuemo was the top target -but as [footballinsider247.com](https://www.footballinsider247.com/newcastle-want-mohammed-kudus-at-west-ham-after-bryan-mbeumo-big-blow/) reported today, Eddie Howe’s side has had to have a rethink. Mbuemo appears to be Old Trafford bound so the spotlight has now moved squarely onto West Ham’s winger:
_“Kudus would fit the bill for that one, obviously left-footed, inverted, he can score goals and create goals…..Missing out on Mbeumo, is a big blow to Newcastle, because Eddie Howe had made him his top target._ _But with Mbeumo seemingly choosing Old Trafford over St James’ Park, they’re going to have to move down their lists to see who else they can potentially bring in. ….__Kudus, could be a good natural fit for Newcastle”_
Which means more competition for Chelsea and potentially a better sale price at the end of it: There were fears that, with Arsenal only considering underbidding at £50 million, the Hammers would be left high and dry with no sale for Kudus and therefore no transfer funds this summer.
Newcastle’s interest will breathe new optimism into the West Ham transfer team providing of course that this interest converts into cold hard cash.
