AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, considered one of the club’s prime targets to replace Onana, has rejected a move to Old Trafford.
The French international prefers a switch to Chelsea, who can offer Champions League football.

Amid these setbacks, the club has at least retained a degree of long-term planning, including a buyback and sell-on clause in the deal that sent goalkeeper Matej Kovar to Bayer Leverkusen.
That decision might now come under the spotlight again.

According to German outlet BILD, FC Copenhagen have expressed strong interest in signing Kovar, who is under contract with Leverkusen until 2027.
The Danish champions are in the market for a new number one following the end of Diant Ramaj’s loan spell, and view Kovar as a prime candidate.
Despite some inconsistent displays – such as Leverkusen’s 3-0 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich – the Czech international still has a strong market.

Copenhagen, who enter the Champions League in the second qualifying round, are reportedly considering both a loan and permanent move.
For Kovar, who previously spent time at Manchester United’s Academy before excelling in Prague and lifting a double with Leverkusen, the move would offer a chance to play regularly and stay in contention for the Czech national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Kovar spoke on the possibility of re-joining United, back in 2024 where he admitted “it would be nice” to come back one day.
