Ditto Jerod Mayo. He was also inclined to wait.

Mike Vrabel?

It’s a done deal. The Patriots coach has already ditched Day 3.

The team practiced Monday, and will do so again Tuesday. But on Wednesday, the final scheduled day to conduct mandatory practice, the players won’t be engaged in that type of on-field workout.

Why?

“I just felt like hopefully we can get two good days of work here and get going on to the offseason program,” Vrabel told the media ahead of Monday’s workout. “We’ll still work; I just didn’t want to come out. We’ll be out on the field. We’ll be lifting, running and meeting.”

So it won’t be exactly be an early exit ahead of the long break before training camp, which starts the final week of July.

The players will still be at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, but it won’t be quite as taxing as being on the field for an actual practice.
