Fans can celebrate Julian Edelman’s induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame later this year.
New England announced the former wide receiver’s induction ceremony will be Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. It is free and open to the pulic.
Edelman was voted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in May after he beat out Adam Vinatieri and Logan Mankins. He is the first member of the latest championships to gain entry.
The Super Bowl LIII MVP spent his entire 12-year career with the Patriots and became one of Tom Brady’s most trusted targets. Edelman’s 620 receptions are second in team history, while his 6,822 receiving yards is fourth and 36 receiving yards is ninth.
Edelman was a strong performer in the playoffs and was part of crucial plays en route to his three Super Bowl titles. During New England’s improbable comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI, Edelman had five catches, but perhaps none more important than his 23-yard diving catch late in the fourth quarter.
Aside from his being a reliable wide receiver, Edelman was also a strong punt returner. He has a team record four punt returns for touchdowns.
Bill Parcells will also be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame as a contributor. Parcells was New England’s coach from 1993-96 and helped turn the team around. He came in after the Patriots went a combined 14-50 in four seasons, and helped lead the team to their first playoff appearance in eight years in 1994.
The induction ceremony will take place on the Patriot Place Plaza, which is just outside of the Hall of Fame.
