Arsenal decide against move for England star

The first transfer window of the summer for Premier League clubs shuts on Tuesday evening.

English top flight sides have been able to finalise any deals since the start of June, but the window will slam shut on Tuesday before reopening on Monday 16 June.

Several clubs in the Premier League have already made signings this summer, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

One club that haven’t yet made a signing, however, is Arsenal.

The Gunners have finished second in the top flight standings in each of the past three seasons, and manager Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side finally lift the trophy next time around.

The North London side are therefore likely to be busy this summer, but it appears that they won’t be signing one particular England international.

According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal are not planning to make a move to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish this summer.

Grealish endured a difficult season for the Citizens last term and has been heavily linked with a move away from The Etihad, with Arsenal touted as a potential destination.

The report claims, however, that the Gunners have no intention of signing the England international.

Grealish joined City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a fee of £100 million, a Premier League record at the time.

The winger was part of the City squad that won the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup in 2023, but last season he scored just once in the league as his form dipped dramatically.

It is claimed that the player himself is keen to depart The Etihad in search of a new challenge, having started just seven of City’s 38 Premier League games last term.

Everton are credited with an interest in the Englishman, however the report claims that Arsenal will not be pursuing Grealish despite a desire to add a left-sided attacker to Arteta’s squad.
