A host of top clubs could suffer disappointment in their pursuit of Mario Gila, who could lean towards staying at Lazio beyond the summer.
According to Lazio Siamo Noi, Mario Gila is leaning towards continuing with Lazio beyond the summer despite big interest from elsewhere. The likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are all keen, yet the return of Maurizio Sarri on the Lazio bench could play a big role in persuading the Spaniard to stay put.
Lazio have a terrific defender on their hands in Mario Gila, with the Spaniard consistently proving he’s their main leader at the back. There’s a possible chance of him leaving the club considering the level of interest being garnered in the market.
The Spaniard, formerly of Real Madrid also has the interest of his old club, as the Spaniards alongside Tottenham Hotspur are interested. Manchester City were also looking at him briefly, even in January before they decided on signing two other young defenders in that window.
Real Madrid are in the market for a new centre-back despite the arrival of Dean Huijsen. However, a defender may not be the absolute priority, as they already have plenty of experienced options there, yet, they continue to monitor the situation with Gila.
The 2000-born Serie A defender also has the interest of Chelsea, who are in search of a centre-back. There are links to many other names in the market, as the potential availability of Gila might be something worth looking at. Spurs on the other hand are preparing a squad capable of handling the pressures of domestic games as well as Europe, while Cristian Romero could potentially depart as he would need a replacement.
Mario Gila wants to stay at Lazio
Gila has many choices to leave Lazio in the summer, although the return of Maurizio Sarri in the dugout has brought in other ideas. Currently, the 2000-born Serie A defender is possibly one of the most valuable assets at Lazio and could fetch a considerable amount in the window.
However, Gila is keen to continue his development at the club, and the arrival of Sarri would bring a familiar face to the training pitch, as the player has grown under the Italian in his previous spell. Hence, he could lean towards a stay with the Serie A giants, although a decision is yet to be made.
