Watch: Town striker Hirst scores first Scotland goal - international duty round-up

Hirst earned his first start for his country on Friday - a 3-1 loss to Iceland at Hampden Park. Supporters were frustrated by their performance, but they put in an improved showing at the Rheinpark Stadion.

Che Adams scored twice in the first half to put Steve Clarke's side 2-0 up, with Hirst notching the third three minutes after the restart, picking up a cross from the right and firing into the net on his fourth appearance for Scotland.

Adams then wrapped up the victory late on, notching his hat-trick.

Town goalkeeper Cieran Slicker, who had a nightmare debut in tough conditions against Iceland, was an unused substitute.

International duty is now over for the duo, with World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Belarus coming up in September.

Elsewhere, Nathan Broadhead was an unused substitute for Wales, who lost 4-3 to Belgium in World Cup qualifying.

The Dragons were 3-0 down inside half an hour, but goals from Harry Wilson, Sorba Thomas and Brennan Johnson got them back on level terms. Kevin de Bruyne put the hosts back ahead after Romelu Lukaku's late goal was disallowed, handing his side all three points in Brussels.

It was the first defeat for Wales under Craig Bellamy, dropping them to second in Group J behind North Macedonia.

Wales resume their campaign with a trip to Kazakhstan on September, followed by a friendly game against Canada.
