Packers Send Jaire Alexander Three-Word Message After Release Decision

Throughout the offseason, it's been no secret that the Green Bay Packers have been open to moving on from cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Of course, it's a situation that's been brewing for quite some time, because back in February, ESPN's Rob Demovsky even reported that the team had trade conversations about the veteran

However, after failing to make a deal for so long, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday that Green Bay would be releasing the 28-year-old.

On the same day the news broke, the Packers posted a graphic of Alexander with the caption, "Thank you, Jaire," to commemorate his last seven seasons with the franchise.

Of course, there's no doubt that the cornerback had a memorable time as a member of the Packers, who had drafted him with the No. 18 pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

From 2018 to 2024, Alexander has proved to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL when healthy, earning several impressive personal accolades, including two Pro Bowls and being named Second-Team All-Pro twice.

In that time, he's been targeted 448 times, allowing 259 receptions, 3,240 yards, 19 touchdowns and an 83.4 passer rating while accumulating 287 tackles, 12 interceptions and 70 pass deflections.

However, staying on the field has been especially difficult, playing in just 34 games the past four seasons for the Packers, missing 13 games in 2021, 10 games in 2023 and another 10 in 2024.

To make matters worse, he was making a lot of money for someone who was consistently missing games, as he signed a four-year, $84 million extension back in May of 2022 with the Packers, which still had two more seasons left.

Now, though, Alexander hits free agency with the ability to choose which team he spends the 2025 season with.
