Mike Vrabel hasn’t coached a game for the Patriots yet, but his former teammate has no reason to think he’s not the right guy for the job.
“I know he’s going to do a great job,” Tom Brady said in a recent interview with SportsCasting’s DJ Siddiqi. “I know he’s all about tough, disciplined, hard-nosed physical brand of football.”
Vrabel was hired following Jerod Mayo’s departure from New England after a Week 17 win. The Patriots finished the 2024 season 4-13 for the second consecutive year.
Vrabel has already made sweeping changes to the roster. He demands the best from his players, which is just one quality of his that makes Brady believe he will do just in New England.
“He’s got this no-bull(expletive) mentality about him and I love that,” Brady said. “That’s why I think he and I have always connected. It’s this mentality that we’re not making excuses, we’re going to go out there and get the job done, and we’re not going to complain. We’re going to work hard and we’re going to be resilient, and that’s how you get things done.”
Vrabel knows what it takes to win — especially with the Patriots. The former NFL linebacker spent eight years playing in New England under Bill Belichick and won three Super Bowls.
The Patriots made upgrades throughout their roster that included signing Stefon Diggs and drafting Will Campbell with the No. 4 pick. Vrabel is now tasked with getting the team back on track and back into the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
