Reports: Juventus have checked in on Viktor Gyökeres

There are many things that are uncertain about Juventus’ roster, but the position group that seems to be the most in doubt is in attack, where the Bianconeri’s new-look front office are expected to make a fair amount of changes. There are, of course, plenty of issues with the current state of the Juve roster, but there’s a general anticipation of Juve’s attack looking a lot different come the start of the 2025-26 season.

That means Juve’s new general manager is likely going to be busy.

It also means we have a new name they look to be checking in on: Say hello to Viktor Gyökeres.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano as well as Tuttosport and TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale, Juventus have made some calls to Portugal in regard to the in-demand 27-year-old Gyökeres, who is coming off a huge season with Sporting CP. Depending on the source, Juventus’ interest of even going into negotiations with Sporting vary from there. Tuttosport has gone as far to say that Gyökeres is to be considered Juventus’ “dream signing” this summer, while Di Natale has previously reported that his profile is one the club “likes a lot” and will try and acquire despite multiple big spenders in the Premier League have interest. According to Romano on his YouTube channel, Juve have talked with Gyökeres’ camp to assess the situation, saying the Swedish international “likes the new Juve.”

Romano added that there aren’t any sort of advanced negotiations going on, but “Juve made some calls.”

Manchester United keep calling on daily basis for Viktor Gyökeres, still on their list.

Juventus and Al Hilal have also called in the last 48h to be informed on situation after Arsenal contacts ongoing since May… but with Šeško advancing.

That Premier League interest is mostly coming from big spenders Arsenal and Manchester United, with both clubs very much in the market for a new No. 9 ahead of the 2025-26 season. With those two clubs — and their massive resources — circling around one of the bigger names on the striker market, the question is: How much could Sporting realistically ask for Gyökeres this summer?

A reported price tag upward of €60 million or €70 million has been thrown out there — which, knowing who else is potentially in the running, is probably not much of a surprise.

United also have reported interest in Victor Osimhen, who has turned down a massive offer from Saudi Arabia in recent days. (Seriously, dude turned down a salary around €45 million? Sheesh!) So a Victor and a Viktor look to be two of the biggest names that Premier League clubs seem to be chasing at the moment.

Where Juventus fit into all of this still seems a little bit of an unknown. But hey, they’re checking in on things, so it’s not like the new guy is sitting around and waiting for the Club World Cup to happen before trying to make some moves.
