Viral Justin Fields video has Jets fans already dreaming of Week 1

It’s only June, but that hasn’t stopped New York Jets fans from daydreaming about Week 1. All it took was a 20-second video of new quarterback Justin Fields striking poses during media day for the hype to start bubbling over.

The Jets shared the video on their official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, and it quickly made the rounds, boosted by the usual aggregator suspects like Ari Meirov and, more importantly, by a fanbase desperate for football.

There’s nothing groundbreaking in the clip itself, just Fields looking sharp and confident in front of the camera. But for Jets fans, it was enough to believe, or at least hope, that brighter days are ahead.

Needless to say, Jets fans are already dreaming of watching Fields under center come Week 1.

The NY Jets hope for a fresh start with Justin Fields at QB

The vibes couldn’t be more different than they were this time last year, when the headlines were dominated by Aaron Rodgers skipping mandatory minicamp and Haason Reddick holding out.

This offseason has been unusually quiet for the Jets, and maybe that’s exactly what they needed. Fields might not be the long-term answer at quarterback, but he’s the best swing they could've taken this offseason, and Jets fans are all in.

Fields enters the 2025 season as a high-upside flier for a Jets team in reset mode. After two frustrating years with Rodgers at the helm — one lost to injury, the other marred by inconsistency — the Jets pivoted to Fields on a modest two-year deal.

The goal isn’t necessarily to crown him as the franchise savior, but to see if there’s something worth building on. If not, the team is positioned to address the quarterback position again in a future draft.

Fields still has plenty to prove as a passer, but he offers rare athleticism and something Jets fans haven’t seen in years: a quarterback who can make things happen when the play breaks down.

Combine that with a fresh coaching staff led by Aaron Glenn and some talented young core pieces, and there’s a cautious optimism brewing, even if the national media hasn’t quite bought in yet.

That optimism will be put to the test immediately. The Jets open their season at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the same team that gave up on Fields just months ago after benching him midseason.

Whether Fields and the Jets can make good on that cautious optimism or not, fans are already counting down the days. The buzz is building in Florham Park.
