Year in and year out, the Green Bay Packers tend to produce one of the best offensive lines in the entire NFL.
This season, despite losing starting center Josh Myers to the New York Jets in free agency, that same goal shouldn’t change.
Matt LaFleur Speaks Highly About Zach Tom
After an early-summer practice today, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke with the media about what his plans are for starting offensive lineman Zach Tom.
Here is what he had to say regarding Tom starting at right tackle:
“I think that’s the plan, absolutely. That’s where he’s found his home. But what’s great about him is if you do have something that happens, he gives you flexibility up front.”

Tom has been a very reliable player for this Packers offense ever since the team drafted him out of Wake Forest back in 2022.
The former All-ACC lineman has turned himself into one of the league’s best offensive tackles extremely quickly.

Zach Tom Should Be Part of an Elite Offensive Line
Last season, the Packers allowed just 22 sacks, which fell right behind the Buffalo Bills for the second-best mark in the league.
With Tom playing the way he has been playing to start his career, LaFleur, starting quarterback Jordan Love, and Packer fans should not worry about him on the edge.
Assuming the Packers can get Pro Bowl lineman Elgton Jenkins back in the building on a potentially re-worked contract, he could take over at center for Myers.
The team also signed free agent guard Aaron Banks to a multi-year deal as he looks to put together a strong first season at guard for the Packers.
Fellow guard Sean Rhyan and tackle Rasheed Walker are looking to stake their claims as quality players in the trenches, as well.
If Green Bay can replicate the production that they had in pass-protection and the run game (ranked fifth in rushing last season), they could very well have a Super Bowl offense.
For now, most eyes will be on the situation with Jenkins to see whether or not he will be showing up at Lambeau Field anytime soon.
