Eagles 2024 Rookies Ready For Important Encore

Few draft classes in Philadelphia Eagles history were as impactful as the 2024 group was last season.

Cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, along with edge rusher Jalyx Hunt, all played key roles in Philadelphia's run to Super Bowl LIX. It was during that game that the rookie class played their best football.

From DeJean's pick-six to Hunt's half-sack, the rookie class was a key contributor as a whole to the Eagles becoming Super Bowl champions.

Now comes the hard part for the group - building off that historical first season.

The trio of Mitchell, DeJean, and Hunt is expected to continue their dominance into another season. Add in the development of late-round linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., and running back Will Shipley, and the sophomore class should see plenty more of their group get on the field in 2025.

"Nothing has really changed for me," Mitchell said on the team's official website. "Taking it one rep at a time and one day at a time. I know it's always going to be a challenge, but definitely it helps having gone through things last year and having some success as a team and continuing to work in that direction and for that.

"Whatever I can do to help the team win, I'm going to do that."

Mitchell, in particular, was sometimes overlooked for his role on the 2024 Eagles due to his ability to lock down top receivers in Philadelphia's zone scheme. With Darius Slay gone, Mitchell is expected to see plenty of tough matchups moving forward.

He is ready for that challenge. ... As is the rest of the 2024 draft class this season.
