The Oregon State baseball team will not have to wait long to play its first game of the 2025 College World Series.
The Beavers will face the Louisville Cardinals on Friday at 4 p.m. PT in their Omaha opener, the NCAA announced Monday. It’s the second game of a Day 1 double-header that begins at 11 a.m. with a matchup between Coastal Carolina and Arizona.
Both games will air live on ESPN.
Oregon State earned a date with Louisville by taking 2 of 3 games from Florida State at the Corvallis Super Regional, using a furious late-game rally to win the opener before bashing its way to a prodigious 14-10 win in the finale.
The Beavers and Cardinals are meeting for the second time, with both coming in the College World Series. Oregon State defeated Louisville 11-4 in 2013. OSU also has played Coastal Carolina once before, in 2019, when an early-season matchup in Seattle resulted in a 4-4 tie.
On the other hand, the Beavers have a long history with Arizona, an old Pac-12 Conference rival they have played 90 times since 1963. Oregon State owns a 46-44 all-time edge in the series, which includes five consecutive victories.
The longtime rivals have never played in the College World Series, but did meet at the 2023 Pac-12 baseball tournament and Arizona won that outing, 13-12, thanks to a ninth-inning walk-off.
The other side of the bracket will feature Arkansas, LSU, UCLA and either Duke or Murray State. UCLA will face the Duke/Murray State winner on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the opener of a double-header that will conclude with a high-profile matchup between Arkansas and LSU at 4 p.m.
