All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they look to strengthen this summer.

Arsenal are working hard on their recruitment as they look to set up a better run at the Premier League title next season. The pressure will be on for Mikel Arteta, but not before the club hands him a significant chunk of cash to spend.

Arteta will get plenty of say, but Andrea Berta will lead the charge after taking over from Edu Gaspar. As Berta looks to wrap up early deals, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Sesko latest

Fabrizio Romano has issued what he believes to be the latest in Arsenal’s pursuit to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig this summer. He said on his YouTube channel: “So a very positive conversation, moving closer to getting the striker they want. But there is still some work to do, because as of today, Sunday, still no agreement Sesko-Arsenal, still no agreement Arsenal-Leipzig, so there is still some work to do.

“This work will restart early next week, so new contacts between Arsenal, Leipzig and Benjamin Sesko to try to find the agreements and to try to find a solution for Sesko to become a new Arsenal player. The player is keen on the move, tempted by the project. Mikel Arteta is obviously a big factor, also with the director Andrea Berta working on the deal.

“So they are all working together on this one, but still need to find agreements with the player, with the agent and with RB Leipzig. So let's be careful, let's wait for the right steps. But in the next days, more contacts are expected for the Benjamin Sesko story.”

Williams to get the choice

Athletic Club could move to make a Nico Williams deal very difficult to complete this summer. Williams has been linked with Arsenal and others, but a move is no sure thing, with Williams very happy in the Basque Country, where he grew up.

The winger has not yet decided if he wants to move, and according to Estadio Deportivo, Athletic Club want to give Williams a fair choice by offering him a salary rise, a move that would also allow them to raise his release clause, if indeed he agrees to it. That could end talk of a move this summer, but it also means the rubber might just meet the road in the coming weeks, with Williams likely to have a stark choice ahead of him.

No Partey agreement

Arsenal still haven’t reached an agreement with Thomas Partey over a new contract. Partey is out of contract in around three weeks, and while the Gunners have placed a contract offer on the table, nothing has been signed.

Ryan Taylor has reported that there has been no breakdown in negotiations, but the two sides have still not come to an agreement on terms. It’s unclear whether that is a purely financial issue, but Arteta will want to keep hold of Partey due to the cover he offers both at midfield and full-back. The veteran proved himself very useful last season.
