Latest news and rumours from around the Premier League including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Arsenal
Premier League teams have the opportunity to bring in new signings over the next couple of months. The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal will be aiming for the title, whilst recent under-performing sides such as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will want to compete higher up the table. Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland are also all back in the top flight.
Firstly, Spurs will ‘consider’ a move for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, according to GiveMeSport. The London outfit are said to be ‘admirers’ of the attacking midfielder and could launch a summer swoop. He has helped the Eagles win the FA Cup recently.
Eze scored in the final for Oliver Glasner’s side against Manchester City at Wembley. They could now face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere. He has been on the books at Selhurst Park since his switch from QPR back in 2020 and hasn’t looked back since.
Newcastle United target landmark double transfer swoop
Newcastle United are gearing up for life in the Champions League and have a significant window ahead of them. Eddie Howe has the chance to add more quality to his ranks. With that in mind, the North East club are targeting Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Joao Pedro and Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, TeamTalk suggest.
Pedro, 23, moved over from South America as a teenager back in 2020 and initially joined Watford before his move to the AMEX Stadium. He has since fired 30 goals in 70 matches for the Seagulls and is one of their most prized assets. As for Elanga, he made his name at Manchester United as a youngster before ending up at Forest. He has become an integral part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting XI but his long-term future is up in the air amid attention from elsewhere.
The 3AM Verdict: Landing both Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga would be a serious statement of intent by Newcastle United. They are both proven performers in the Premier League and can score goals. The Toon Army need to freshen up their ranks as they gear up for the Champions League and they will have to be smart on the recruitment front over the next couple of months.
Arsenal make Leroy Sane offer
Arsenal are interested in signing Leroy Sane on a free transfer and have made an ‘offer’, CaughtOffside claim. The former Manchester City player sees his Bayern Munich contract expire at the end of the month. He is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension with the Bundesliga giants and is due to become a free agent very soon.
Sane, 29, has a big decision to make regarding his future and will be weighing up his options. CaughtOffside also report that he is wanted by Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray as well. He has made 220 appearances for Bayern so far and has scored 61 goals, 12 of which came last term.
The 3AM Verdict: Leroy Sane would be a shrewd signing by Arsenal as they wouldn’t need to pay a fee for him. That would free up funds to bring in other players in different positions. Their need for attacking reinforcements has been well documented and Sane is someone who has bags of experience of playing at the top level. He has also played in England before with Manchester City which would help him adapt. Turkish football isn’t the same standard as the Premier League and although Fenerbahce and Galatasaray could pay him big bucks, he shouldn’t go to the Turkish Super Lig just yet and Arsenal would be a better challenge.
