Transfer push: Talks continue over Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Mike Maignan
The first of two summer transfer windows shuts tonight as clubs push to get deals done before the 7pm deadline. Arsenal are in no rush to complete the signing of Benjamin Sesko given that they aren’t at the Club World Cup, but are locked in talks over a £70million move and might want to speed up negotiations with several new rivals having now emerged. The Gunners may have also have seen their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi hijacked by Real Madrid.
Manchester United are stepping up talks over Bryan Mbeumo, with a switch to Tottenham not on the cards despite Thomas Frank being set to leave Brentford for Spurs. Viktor Gyokeres is said to be furious that Sporting Lisbon have gone back on their transfer promise, while Chelsea hope to seal the signing of Mike Maignan today but may have to wait to strike a deal over Jamie Gittens as Marcus Bettinelli heads to Manchester City.

Arsenal hijacked by Real Madrid in Zubimendi race
While Arsenal now face rival interest in Benjamin Sesko, they could also be hijacked by Real Madrid over Martin Zubimendi.
The Gunners were first said to have all but finalised a £51m deal for the Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder back during the January transfer window.
However, despite various reports over recent weeks of the formalities almost being completed and a medical scheduled, a move is still yet to be sealed and Zubimendi himself has admitted publicly that he still does not know what will happen this summer, having rejected Liverpool last year.
