Transfer destinations suggested for Leicester City full-back as 'everything indicates' exit

Victor Kristiansen is expected to leave Leicester City this summer to boost his chances of making the Denmark squad at the World Cup, according to reports.

The left-back departed City on loan the last time they were relegated and Danish media say “everything indicates” he will leave again now they’re back in the Championship.

Kristiansen had had an 18-month run in the Denmark squad in which he was mostly a starter as a left-sided wing-back.

But he was not called up for this month’s friendlies against Northern Ireland and Lithuania and Danish newspaper BT believe a King Power Stadium exit is required for him to regain his place ahead of next summer’s tournament in North America.

It may well be a loan again, with Kristiansen on a contract at City until 2028. The club would need to sell him for at least £10m to ensure his sale goes into the books as profit.

Last season, with Enzo Maresca in charge, Kristiansen was not keen on playing as a full-back who dropped into a central defensive three, and so went on loan to Bologna in Serie A, where he became a regular as they qualified for the Champions League.

BT suggest his reputation in Italy remains strong and suggested Lecce and Torino as two clubs who could move for him.

There has also been speculation that he could be a target for Everton, which would allow him to stay in the Premier League.

Kristiansen returned to City after his Bologna spell and was first-choice left-back for most of the season, playing 31 matches in all competitions.

But for the final month of the campaign, he lost his spot to Luke Thomas, and his only start in the final seven fixtures was as a left winger in the 2-0 loss to Bournemouth on the final day.

City look strong at full-back as they go into the transfer window, and it does not seem like a position they will need to strengthen.

Not only do they have Kristiansen and Thomas currently in their ranks, but they have Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Woyo Coulibaly, and up-and-comer Bade Aluko to call upon, with those four all able to play on both the right and left sides of defence.
