Aston Villa's retained list has been revealed by the Premier League following the culmination of the 2024-25 season, and it has involved allowing a number of the club's young players to leave upon the expiry of their contracts.

While the actual first-team squad hasn't been too affected by the collective contractual situation, Villa have decided against keeping on a host of young players who will now seek to continue their various careers elsewhere.

From the first-team, incidentally, there has been confirmation that pair Robin Olsen and Kortney Hause have left the club; goalkeeper Olsen has already returned to his native Sweden and rejoined his boyhood club Malmo on a free transfer, while centre half Hause, one of the remaining players who led the club to promotion in 2019, departs too.

Hause didn't play again for the club after the win at Everton in January 2022, under Steven Gerrard, predominantly because of awful injury luck. He was loaned out by Unai Emery for the beginning of the 2022-23 season, to Championship side Watford, but his last professional appearance was in August 2022.

Along with that duo a number of the club's under 21 players and scholars have bid farewell to Bodymoor Heath, including former Stockport County and Port Vale loanee Rico Richards and central midfielder Todd Alcock. The full list of young players being released by Villa can be found here...
