Sunderland and Burnley in ‘four-way duel’ to sign Aston Villa player – Villans set affordable price tag

Sunderland and Burnley are among the clubs in the race to sign Aston Villa’s Àlex Moreno this summer.

That’s according to Fichajes, and they mention Sunderland and Burnley when covering the La Liga interest in the Aston Villa player.

The 32-year-old spent this season on loan at Nottingham Forest and will return to Aston Villa, where he’s unlikely to have a future.

On Monday, we covered claims from Spain which stated Real Betis have identified him as one of the options to improve their defence. He was at the Andalusian club before joining the Villans in January 2023.

Fichajes now state Real Betis would welcome the Spaniard’s return, but they aren’t the only club in the transfer race. Sunderland, Burnley and Real Sociedad are also keen on the Aston Villa fullback.

Régis Le Bris’ side and the Clarets have secured promotion to the Premier League and have to improve their squads for next season. Both have identified Moreno as the target for the left-back position.

His contract at Villa Park is until 2026, and the report states Unai Emery’s side value him at €6m.

This should be affordable for Sunderland and Burnley, who are in a ‘four-way duel’ with Real Betis and Real Sociedad to sign Moreno.
