Manchester City are set to sign Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea.
Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed with his famous “here we go” phrase that the two clubs have agreed a deal over a move for the 33-year-old.
Man City are expected to complete a transfer in time for Bettinelli to be part of their FIFA Club World Cup squad.
They recently announced that cult hero goalkeeper Scott Carson will leave after six years at the Etihad Stadium.
The 39-year-old played only two times during his time in Manchester, but remained a popular figure in the dressing room.
City are now set to replace Carson with Bettinelli, who played for the likes of Fulham, Accrington Stanley and Middlesbrough before joining Chelsea in the summer of 2021.
The English footballer has made only one appearance during his four years stay at the Blues, and that came in the 5-1 FA Cup third round win over National League side Chesterfield in January 2022.
He has a year left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge but is poised to join City as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been very active in the summer transfer window.
They have announced the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the transfer fee reported to be around €40 million.
The Premier League giants are also closing in on a deal for Lyon’s Ryan Cherki, with the 21-year-old poised to sign a five-contract before Tuesday’s deadline.
Meanwhile, Tijjani Reijnders transfer is expected to be announced soon after City agreed a financial package with AC Milan.
