Liverpool are bracing for a bustling transfer window following their Premier League triumph in Arne Slot's debut season and closing in on a deal for the golden boy of German football, Florian Wirtz.

The club have been quick off the mark to secure deals as soon as the summer market opened. The Reds have one last day to wrap up more business, before a brief hiatus ensues due to the Club World Cup, with the window swinging open again on June 16 ahead of the new season.

Finalising a deal for Wirtz tops Liverpool's to-do list, with talks ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen to clinch a record-breaking agreement. Wirtz's ex-team-mate Jeremie Frimpong has already touched down at Anfield, along with goalkeeper Armin Pecsi. Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to link up with the Premier League champions after a deal was struck last summer for the Georgian ace.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has already bid farewell to the club for Real Madrid and it's doubtful he'll be the only one heading out. The futures of Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez hang in the balance. Here's all the latest transfer news swirling around Anfield.

Sky Sports suggest an agreement is within reach between the parties for the signature of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder and a transfer could be finalised swiftly.

A done deal is poised to be wrapped up in the coming days, with Wirtz seemingly sold on Liverpool's vision as the club works out the fine details with the Bundesliga side.

Both the Reds and Germany will have breathed a sigh of relief after he returned fit from national duty during the Nations League matches, reports the Mirror.

Liverpool are ready to submit their last bid of around £118million to nab the Leverkusen ace. The German outfit initially wanted a hefty £126.4m, but a compromise seems likely now.

Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott admits that quitting Anfield might be on the cards if he is to amp up his promising career.

The young midfielder found it tough getting regular play under Arne Slot this 2024/25 season and craves more action on the field for his progress.

"It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season," he revealed.

"I don't really want to be wasting years of my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen. I need to reflect.

"I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing and how can I improve as a player because that's the most important thing.

"I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.

"Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career."

The 20-year-old star came as a surprise addition to the Reds' squad but Liverpool laid out the most solid plans for the youngster, says his agent Matyas Esterhazy.

"Armin will be at Liverpool next season," his rep confirmed to M1. "This was one of the most important links in our decision.

"We opted for Liverpool because they presented a professional plan we could buy into, and Armin is an incredibly smart, patient and ambitious lad."
